SAN FRANCISCO, CA (Dec, 2016) - Since their admission into Y Combinator’s class of W 2014, Bellabeat continues to change the game of health tracking. Back in winter 2014, Y Combinator included the company in their top 3 startups and Bellabeat raised $4.5M in funding with top investors such as SV ANGEL, UNIVERSAL, CRUNCHFUND, Nicolas Berggruen, Justin Kan, Michael Seibel, Paul Buchheit, Tom Fallows, Cherubic VC and Adrian Aoun. Bellabeat’s smart piece of jewelry, Leaf Nature, launched back in May 2015 has quickly become known as “The Health Tracker for Women”, with more than 400k distributed devices and thousands of users on the waiting list.
2016 started big for Bellabeat, when Forbes included co-founder and CPO Urska Srsen in their “30 under 30” list, naming her ambassador of the list’s Technology field. “I believe limiting yourself is the worst thing you can do. It doesn’t matter if you’re a doctor, a sculptor or a programmer – if we join hands, we can make amazing things that can turn the world into a better place”, Urska said then.
Bellabeat currently employs over a hundred team members in offices in San Francisco (CA), Dongguan (CH) and Zagreb (CRO).
During 2016, they’ve successfully launched their product on the Western European, Middle Eastern, Australian and New Zealand markets while also securing numerous retailers including Amazon, Best Buy, Target, The Bay, Brookstone and Bed Bath & Beyond. They also made some key hires including the head of global expansions from McKinsey & Company and former head of engineering at Apple.
Their health trackers Leaf Nature and Leaf Urban (launched in July 2016) have become a key accessory for women with different careers and lifestyles such as Lolo Jones, Summer and Winter Olympian and 3x World Champion, whose personalized guides are available in the Leaf App to all Bellabeat users. Due to its unique design and versatility Leaf was also embraced by many fashion icons, lifestyle and yoga bloggers including Sarah Stage, Kino MacGregor, Diipa Khosla, Gabrielle Epstein, and Chiara Ferragni from The Blonde Salad, one of the world’s most famous bloggers.
In November 2016 Bellabeat launched Shell, the first non-invasive baby heartbeat listener that enables expecting mothers to listen to, record, and share their baby’s heartbeat. The product is one of its kind and it’s continuing to revolutionize prenatal care.
At Bellabeat they're currently working on several exciting projects and preparing new products in order to make 2016 even bigger. The company is growing and they are hiring as they plan to expand into new markets in 2017 and open additional office locations.
